To Leeuwarden (in short)

Leeuwarden (Ljouwert) is a city in the north of the Netherlands, provincial capital of Friesland (Fryslân).

From Schiphol Airport it is a 1.5 hours drive by car (149 kilometers), the train takes you there in a bit more than two hours.

The conference venue WTC Expo is located just outside the city centre. From Leeuwarden Central Station, you can take the bus (6 minutes) or a taxi (4 minutes). Walking to the conference venue will cost you about 15-20 minutes.

By train

  • From Schiphol Airport: Schiphol Airport has its own train station. Trains for Leeuwarden leave every half hour. The most convenient option leaves 34 minutes past the hour. This train takes you directly to Leeuwarden Centraal Station. 

You can buy your train tickets online. There is also the option to buy an OV-Chipkaart (Public Transport Card). For more information, click here

If you're only traveling on the day of arrival and on the day of departure, we recommend to buy a single ticket on those days, instead of an OV-Chipkaart

By car

WTC Expo is easily accessible thanks to its central location in relation to the motorways as well as good public transport connections. Traffic signs indicate WTC Expo from all directions. The main entrance to our events is the West Entrance, which you can reach via Fryslânplein. 

Parking

WTC Expo has large and easily accessible car parks. Parking costs only € 4.00 a day. The car parks can be accessed without a car park ticket. Before leaving you can purchase an exit ticket at WTC Expo’s box office, information desk or cloakroom.

The car parks of WTC Expo can accommodate approximately 3,200 cars. There are two charge stations for electric cars. These charge stations are located at the West entrance. Car park B1 is reserved for visitors of Holland Casino.

Get around

By bus (Leeuwarden city centre <--> WTC Expo)

At the bus/railway station, take regional line 70, 71 or 97, which stops right behind WTC Expo. This trip takes only 6 minutes. For departure times, go to www.9292.nl.

 

By taxi (Leeuwarden city centre <--> WTC Expo)

You can take a taxi from the central station. It is only a few minute drive and will you cost you approximately €7 - €10. If you travel from another location in Leeuwarden, please ask your hotel reception to call a taxi, or call one of these taxi companies yourself:

By bike

The easiest way to get around Leeuwarden is by bike. Leeuwarden is a small city and just like every other Dutch city, everyone rides a bicycle. To commute, to do groceries, to bring the children to school and to explore the city and the charming villages that surround it. You can rent a bike at the Tourism Office, or at Bicyle Station 058, or you can rent one at the central station (OV-fiets), but than a Public Transport Card is required.

You can also rent a bicycle at the conference hotel WestCord WTC Leeuwarden. The hotel has a limited amount of bicycles, so please make a reservation for this special service when booking your accomodation.
