About ICML XVII

Minority Languages in a Globalized Society

From 22 to 25 May 2019 the 17th International Conference on Minority Languages (ICML XVII) takes place in Leeuwarden (Ljouwert), the capital of Fryslân, the Netherlands. The conference is organized by Mercator, the European research centre on multilingualism and language learning. 

ICML XVII will address the challenges and opportunities of smaller languages such as minority languages in a globalized society. It aims to bring together scholars and students across the multidisciplinary field of minority languages. 

 

Mercator European Research Centre

This conference is hosted by Mercator European Research Centre on Multilingualism and Language Learning. This research institute, located in the capital of the minority language province Fryslân, researches multilingual education and language learning in Europe. For policy makers and professional workers, it is an independent and recognized reference centre.
